There are ports in the front of the box but what do they do

The manual for the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD says:

"These connectors are reserved for future use"

So for now, those video and audio ports are of no use at all.

If your speaking of the red, white, and yellow ports, they allow you to transfer video out from the front of the box to a tv, vcr, or recieving device.
If your speaking of anything else like a usb connection, its not for consumer's use. Its for manufacture activation. They use it to download software or diagnose problems with your box.

The manufacture is however looking in to a consumer use for the ports in the future. So.......they may be available for use in the future but not as of now.
