This guy asked me to a dance. I'm 17, he's 16, we're in the same grade and school. But, I'm not sure if he wants to get romantically involved too, as in bf and gf. We talk some, and e-mail a lot. And, I e-d him that he could back out if he wanted and he said that's not an option. Then, I asked him why me and not some other pretty girl who goes to our school...I'm average looking, and he came up with a paragraph of reasons. But, last week, i found out i couldn't go cuz i have to take the ACT the next day. He said it was ok, but now he's acting kinda strange around me. y? Mature answers please.

He might feel like you blew him off. Maybe he feels turned down. Perhaps, he's not sure how you feel and were only thinking of a way out of it. You told him he could back out, you told him you didn't know why you, then you gave him a reason, in the end, that you couldn't go. Maybe he just thinks you don't like him, and he does like you. Maybe...just maybe....

It sounds as though he's interested in your first as a person. That's always good news.

But it also sounds as though he feels that you "blew him off" by saying yes and then saying no. So, if you have something in writing about taking the ACT the next day, show it to him. It should soothe his feelings and you can still be friends. Friendships can always develop further and develop into romance, if that's what you both want, later on.

He probably does like you and he feels like you blew him off You could still go just tell him you cant go out too late. Maybe be back by 9 or so so that you can get some sleep for the test. He feels wounded
