discipline and practice everyday.... a good suggestion I USE TO TEACH MY STUDENTS IS TAKE A PICTURE FROM A MAGAZINE....black and white divide it right down the middle...paste on half to the paper and try to reproduce the missing half to match the other side your subject may create an abstract piece but it will teach you composition and values of variations of black and white....try it with a face.....now after you have done that take a black and white photo....divide it up into one inch squares,,,now draw three inch squares on a piece of paper the sane across as down in your original one inch squares...now try to reproduce that same drawing or photo in the three inch squares a section at a time...don't think of it as one big piece...think of it as several tiny projects that become one....
now try to copy other drawings that you see in art books...or even try your luck at recreating paintings....if you do this a little at a time i guarantee you'll improve.. also keep a journal...artist sketchbook of different subjects... set up some items in your bedroom or wherever you draw...just objects around the room...draw the same object under different light conditions so you can learn shapes and shading and how light effects them....get a basic drawing book....real simple...even elementary
drawing books....also books on perspective.....try your luck first at copying...when you developed your own skills you'll be amazed at what you can do....good luck

I know i sound like a parrot but I have to agree with everyone else who said practice.

It is the only way. You dont have to spend money on art school, not yet anyway. Just get a sketchbook and a pencil with you wherever you go. Draw whatever you want.

Soon you will see improvement as you will gain better control over the pencil. Don't be too hard on yourself if your subject doesn't look exactly like it does in real life.

Have fun!

By taking lessons, of course.
Try to draw what you SEE, not what you think! Also, if you have a model try a lot of 2-minutes poses, to help you get the movement and only go to the essential.
Study a bit of physiology, learn the laws of perspective, all that is useful.
But try and try and try again is the only recipe.

As a Artist myself, I draw what I see from my mind, and sometimes from things around me, inspiration is a key factor with me, plus it is very important to be very positive with yourself and your surroundings! How I get Focused before I start drawing is to get in the right frame of mind, go to a favorite picture you have drawn and use that as your starter point, you will find that much easier for your mind to accept what you want to draw! Good luck just go to your favorite place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Practice as much as you can. Don't force drawings though.. remember that drawing is a form of expression too!
