If you want music by popular artists, you can't them for free unless you want to do it illegally. However, downloading music illegally is very risky and risk getting virus, spyware, and adware. Half of the free mp3 websites that appear on your search results are filled with adwares, spywares, and viruses or adult content. (Common red search results include mp3000.net, emp3world.com, mp3raid.com, mp3fusion.net, mp3center.org, album-archive.com... DON't GO TO THESE WEBSITES. They'll exploit your browser and make changes to your computer or infect your comp with viruses) Same with some Limewire downloads. So I suggest you download McAfee SiteAdvisor if you plan on doing a Google Search.

However I recommend going to singingfish.com. It's a "legal" search over there and you'll find music/video easily. No pop-ups. When you find your song, right-click and click on "Save Target As.."

Depends on what type of free music you are into. Generally there are lots of good free indie, less commercial music online for you to explore from indie rock to dance. I have stumbled across a few really good DJ websites that completely blew my mind away :) so who says free is not good???
