I'm trying to get into shape and I've run for the past five nights so far. Everytime I run I get a really bad cramp on the right side of my abdomin. How do I stop from getting these cramps?

I heard potassium helps but I haven't tried yet.

Well what my soccer team does when we get cramps is put our hands on top of our head. Its supposed to circulate blood to our apdomin/cramp area. Also, we stick part of our tongue out and breathe through our mouth. I've been doing these techniques since 1st grade. It works! I hope I helped aolve your problem.

It will go away with time I used to get the same thing you need to stretch really well your whole body for 5-10 minutes and then start of slowly, by walking at a moderate pace then slowly build up to a run and the same when you are almost done running slow to a moderate pace then walk for a minute or two and then finish by stretching for 5-10 minutes. Drink plenty of water and you will see that this will help.

It's called a "stitch" and the best way to get rid of it is to stop allowing yourself to become dehydrated! Increase your water intake to NO LESS than 64 ounces a day. More if you can.

Also remember to stretch, a little before, and plenty after!

warm up before you go for a run...like jog first for like 5-10 mins....also breath in thru your nose and out your mouth.....if you start to get that pain....put pressure on it and breath thru your nose and out your mouth as slow as you can....you get the muscle cramps from lack of oxygen to them....these things really help!
