Hi roadrunner316,
I like to type my e-mail messages (and even these postings) onto a separate text editor, or word processor, rather than typing directly into the e-mail or web mail system.
The benefits of this are that your text editor spell checks for you. You can type the message off-line and take your time. You can easily copy and paste the messages into what ever program that you want. And, finally, if there's any screw-up, you still have the text there, so it doesn't get lost.
I recommend you getting into the habit of doing this from now on. Best of luck to you.

It depends.
If the computer Crashed, then you will not get the information you typed back unless you have an auto-save on your e-mail program (Look in your "drafts" folder) or a keystroke logger
if you simply made a mistake and deleted the lot, computers have an undo option...get the e-mail page backup and try hitting CTRL+Z a few times and see what happens.
Failing that, there is not a lot you can do

Unless it was copied to the clipboard, which it normally isn't, then the data was lost. I know that Outlook will save an email to draft automatically after the email is open and unsent for 5 minutes, but you may not have hit the mark. Check in your drafts folder.
