I'm of the opinion that if you have to ask, "Do I take him back?", you already know the answer.....and the answer is NO! You might not want to accept it, or hear it even, but if you have to ask, then NO you should not!

If he's willing to get down on his knees and beg, especially in public, ask him if he's equally willing to fess up to his secrets (in private) so you can feel comfortable with him and not feel like you two are sitting with a wall between you. Just get the ball rolling with one secret and decide then if you can go on from there. Most guys, if given a chance, will open up a little at a time so don't push it too fast.

i am a bit lost here. your friends said he is a user but how can he be a user if he always work? in what way?
anyway...you should do some research about your man. collect as many information as you can then you make your decision base on that. but don't take any rumours as your consideration, it has to be some facts. if possible you need to mingle with his friends until you get what you looking for. your friends think they know him but his friends would be the best source for you. but don't go with his best friend, go for ordinary friend of his.
good luck...!

You're staying out of pity. So, he dropped to his knees? If that's all it takes, you're a push-over sweetie. Friends usually know best.

If you can't trust him, then you don't need to be with him.
