my guess is this is a bonus question for your physics class. and matter has nothing to do with mass, but energy. Anything that has energy, whether kinetic or potential energy is matter.

Normal matter is composed of various mixtures of molecules composed of various elements. Elements are composed of some mixture of protons, electrons and neutrons. These are composed of various sub-atomic particles like quarks. These may be composed of things that are now considered loops or strings, but in actuality we don't know.
The second answerer isn't correct in that anti-matter will have mass, but is not the same as "normal" matter.
