You'd be better off sticking to your enlistment and getting an honorable discharge, THEN looking for a job. Because if you get anything LESS an employer will see that and not hire you.
I would suggest you make contacts in the kind of work you wish to do. I don't know what you're doing in the Navy, but usually most of the military jobs knowlege can be transfered over to civilian life. If you do something technical, then look for that, if you do something mechanical, then look for that. You can always train INTO a job if you're willing and show people you REALLY want to work.
July is not that far away (and I'm not familiar with Oceanea and the Navy, but I am the wife of a retired AF, now civilian AF (space cadet)) I'm also familiar with what you DON'T want to do with your military 'life' and thats screw it up...so 6 mnths isn't that long...Please keep your head on straight, do your 'duty', get out in July and have fun getting a new job.

Wishing you luck !!!

ok, there ain't no ez way to get out, most people just do their 3 months early out request at top use their all leave for terminal leave can be like around 6months early than their EAOS if play right. if u still got a a year or more tought luck, i really suggest u make rank or request A school if u still airman or seaman. or u can request for command transfer as long both the other person and u command approve usually had to be about same rate. not impossible. also some hurt them self purpose to sep, actually if u hurt u self badly or act crazy buy cutting u self purposly is possible not only u gettin gout but u get some soft of pay after been separte but all this require alot of pending and approve nothing is easy. But trust me if u able to bust u *** making rank petty offercer above u would see a diff better pay, more respecul little more bossy.

I spend 4 yrs in Norfolk. based anyhow. My destroyer(USS Damato) never stayed in port very long. Yes, the first year or so are a biiitch but it does get better when you get alittle rate. None of my friends-and myself- never wanted to be lifers but that doesn't mean we didn't go out and have fun. where else can you go day after day and do almost nothing and get paid for it? I hated the navy, too, and wanted to go home in the worse way (dear john letter when i was in viet nam) but looking back i would not have missed it for anything. How many wisconsin farm boys have seen most of the world? Right now you are thinking that the next two years are a lifetime but it is as nothing. I won't say it will just fly by cause everyday will seem endless. Just get yourself a shortimer chain and wait it out. You will be glad you did.

Short of you going to captains mast or court martial, I don't see how you can get out. Unless you lied about something on your enlistment papers or can prove your recruiter falsified your enlistment application and/or test results, or get a medical discharge.....you're pretty much stuck for the duration of your contract. That's why it's called a contract. You can always talk to someone at JAG to see what your options are, assuming you have some.
I dont know where you are from, but from everyone I know who was stationed in Virginia...they loved it. You should give it a chance. The Navy isn't a bad place to be considering everything you get in addition to a paycheck. Whatever skills you acquire there can be very useful in the civilian world, but you have to earn them first.

My son is in the navy in VA also. I would encourage him to fulfill his committment. If he would of asked my opinion before joining I probably would of encouraged him not to join because I am aware of how tough it is and the dangers, but once you make a committment like that I think you are obligated to honor it. I sincerely hope things get better for you. Please see about talking to a counselor there because you could be depressed and a little homesick. If it is necessary to be discharged I know that there is a general discharge under honorable conditions in some circumstances. God bless you.

The work need to be done is posting/answering a discussion and uploading any photo/image of your interest. For details visit

I will publish few more genuine site in couple of weeks, where you can earn money. You may also write to me at talkofmoney@rediffmail.com (Note: When u are planning for a home based online work, be careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.)
