Should they reopen in the name of homosexual tolerance?

Is it homophobic not to have them, or are they truly a breeding ground for disease which helped to proliferate AIDS?

LOL....oh looky looky, all these thumbs down but no one with the nuts to admit that gays were having a disgusting disease ridden orgy fest for years which helped to proliferate and spread AIDS--to each other,
and to heterosexuals,
because those dirty gays LOVED to donate their hep C and HIV blood
and have bisexual sex without telling their female partners...
yes, gays can be guilty too, f**k thier victim persecution status and own up.

They were closed down in the '80s after a sizeable population of Americans were diagnosed with the disease and dying or had died already. Part of the reason was that Reagan was stupid enough to claim that it was a gay disease and he and all of the other conservatives who sided with him on this didn't want money wasted on a disease that they saw as a gay man's disease. He was against funding for research of the disease to help find a possible cure or even develop medication that will prolong the lives of AIDS sufferers. Keep in mind that this was before 1987 when there was very little or no knowledge of the disease itself, because by 1987 it was known that AIDS wasn't a disease that only gay men were diagnosed with ;there was also a number of people who contacted the disease who were heterosexual and skin color didn't matter because there was more than one way AIDS could be transmitted. By then, we knew that AIDS was transmitted through unprotected sex between an infected person(whether it be man and woman or two men), contaminated blood that was used for transfusions, sharing a contaminated needle or being poked by one, coming into contact with the bodily fluids of a person infected with AIDS, an infected woman who was pregnant could pass the disease to her baby.

I don't know if tolerance has anything to do with it or not, but they should be able to reopen now. Especially if you look back in retropsect on this, AIDS was spread from one gay man to the next through unprotected anal sex(well most of it was...I'm telling you what I know/remember about it). It was their responsibility to have protection with them at all times if one of them didn't have protection on them during an encounter, looking back on this, if we had known what we know now, then chances are that most of the lives that were lost to AIDS during the '80s-'90s could have been saved.

If they were to reopen like I mentioned earlier, there would be a lot of public health requirements put into effect in order to keep the bathhouses running. However, I'm pretty sure that there are some bathhouses that are underground, but they're sometimes referred to as some sort of spa and relaxation place. Sometimes even just public showers of some sort.

They aren't a breeding ground for disease, imho.

I don't know too much about the world so I've been reading about Islam. I guess they have public bathhouses to get clean so they pray afterwards being more pure. I don't think there's a homophobia problem there. They're still open, right?
I wouldn't want to go into a public place like that myself. Nothing to do with gays to me- just germy! LOL

While hygene is all fine and good, bathhouses were fronts for gay prostitution. I mean if youre into that sort of thing you could always go to a health club and hang out in the locker room.

I hope God blesses you with a gay kid. On second thought, that might be a little harsh. I wouldn't want any gay kid to grow up with a parent like you.
