I have tried pretty much every tan available and they all seem to last the same amount of time, even the expensive ones!
I get annoyed because when i bath/shower i can't have a proper wash because it rubs my fake tan off. If i decide just to have a light wash i still have to shave which also removes my fake tan.
Can anyone help me?? Any advice would be much appreciated

I have this problem too! Unfortuately I find keeping a fake tan on for as long as possible involves a lot of effort. First of all, remove as many dead skin cells as you possibly can before applying, this could involve a few days of good exfoliation beforehand to make sure your skin is in tip top condition with nothing ready to flake off as soon as you put your fake tan on. I use those exfoliating gloves from the Body Shop with a decent scrub like Get Fresh Salt Scrub (it's like a professional one for the home) or another one I like is Benefit's Bionic Blast. Really really scrub well every day like this, so your skin is as free as possible from old skin cells ready to rub off. Of course proper moisturisation of the cells you're revealing is essential, so a couple of times a day at least use a really decent body lotion to keep them sticking to you for as long as possible!
For the tan itself I prefer the creams as I find the mousse a bit drying, so I always go for say St Tropez lotion rather than mousse as they seem to last longer. I've heard Bare Escentuals Faux Tan is also very good. Read up on makeupalley.com for fake tan reviews to find the best one. Then when it's on keep on moisturising the skin at every available opportunity! this is the only way to keep the tan as long as possible as it will come off when your skin sloughs off naturally. Keep using the scrubbing gloves gently in the shower to ensure it fades evenly. Then it should be nice and even still for the next time you want to apply.

I would recommend using St.Tropez tan as i use it and i use it on my clients (male or female), I am fair skinned too but i find it works a treat if you do the following

1- Exfoliate and moisturise your body 2 days b4 application,

2-To not apply any other brand of body moituriser or face moituriser apart from st tropez as the tan will not work,

3-No swimming or any activities that will make you perspire on the day of applicatioN,

4-To not apply any deodorant (sorry) on the day of application or you will have white marks or sometimes green.

5-If you do it at home try not to put any clothes on once its applied or if you need to make sure its dark loose baggy clothing but no bra.(wait 10mins b4 u do put anything on),

6-With st tropez it says to leave the base on for 4hrs but i leave it on overnight (put dark towel on bedding if its cream) and if any tan gets on clothes or underwear it does wash out as its a vegatable dye,

7-I recommend to not wear any jewellery until the next day if you can(no white marks then),

8-Finally i strongly recommend to exfoliate every 2-3 days afterwards at home so the tan can wear off easily and it lasts 5 days to a week i find if you follow this aftercare.
Do not worry you ll be fine and you ll look fab, better than using the sun bed i say- good luck xx

this is what i do and my tan lasts just over a week.
first i make my own exfolliant.the ingredients are
2 cups of brown sugar
1 cup of olive oil
little bit of ginger
mix ingredients til smooth. Now,stand on a towel or in the shower(but don't have the water running) and using a face washer or your fingers, rub onto your skin using a circular motion all over your body and your face.leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse with cold water(or as cold as you can handle).it scrubs your skin and leaves it in excellent condition for tanning.i do this once a week even if i'm not tanning as i love how my skin looks after it.
ok,so once you have your tan on,make sure you moisturise twice a day all over.it will pro long the life of your tan.
