They didn't all close down, just not as popular. As there are increased options due to increased technology and a wider acceptance of homosexuality in comparison to the past.

Gay bathhouses did not shut down because of intolerance. They shut down in an attempt to slow the spread of AIDS. Unless you know of a cure, I don't think the gay community has any interest in bathhouses reopening any time soon.

Closing them down was not a matter of going against homosexuals. Those places are known for having druggies hang out there and people being so high they have no clue who they are sleeping with.
