Why? Okay i know that theirs people who get raped on myspace, but it's not myspace's falut, their is OTHER places that this can happen, and their is OTHER perverted places, for example teenspot.com. Anyway the people who are getting kidnapped rape etc, are probably stupid. They probably posted all their private infomation, innocent? hell no if they don't have enough commen sence to know that telling random people on the net, your private info that's your own damn falut. Parent's shouldn't blame myspace, they should blame their selfs for raising sucha stupid child, and not telling their child its bad to post that.

thats kinda how i feel, it can be fun but you have to treat the internet like the street. dont talk to strnagers and give out info etc. parents dont talk to their kids about rape and crazy pedophiles becuase they think it could never happen in their surburban neighborood. i thionk priviate myspaces are a good idea, and sometimes kids are too young to be on.

Myspace has become the popular whipping boy by example . Granted stupid is as stupid does . People are becoming more and more relaxed behind the keyboard and the web . Any and all conversation sites can be a trap . Please be careful , you sound very naive and quick to judge .

I do not like my space or any other site like it.
It is trouble waiting to happen. And we are not just talking about the girls and guys who fall for the pedophiles and meet them. We are also talking about all the marriages it destroys.
I believe my Army son who just returned from serving a year in Iraq has lost his wife. She was heavily into postings on myspace. I saw her site some time ago but my other son saw it recently and she had all sorts of photos and stated she was single. Now what do you think happened? Yes, she sent him a "dear John letter" and he is heartbroken.
Myspace and similar sites are allowing any women to meet any man and any man to meet any woman. Anyone can lie (oh I am not married, or I am only 25) and innocent people get hurt. This happens so much you would never believe it. My brother (who is older) was hooking up with women on myspace and other sites and driving all across the US chasing them and he is married. They lured him in and away from his wife. Sure he should have had a better head on his shoulders, but these site are intended to hook people up with those they do not know (and yes it works for pals contacting pals too).
My biggest problem with it is the EASE with which others can contact you and say anything they like. I got a myspace site after my son told me he could contact me from Iraq. I forgot about it because he ended up reaching me with Yahoo M. I get men all the time sending me messages to contact them. They send photos and cute little "dream boy" messages. Many are teens or early 20's. I get insulted. I am married and 50 years old. Now if I wanted to mess with their minds, I could fake them out. Now I become 18, cute, blond, and available.
Should I send them my photo or one out of a magazine (model)?
See the deception. Lets all grow up.

b/c a 30-year old balding creep can get a phone number and address of a 13 year old cutie, along with her typical hangout spots, favorite food and music, etc.
myspace gets the hit b/c it is most popular. If some law gets passed, it will involve all of those "open-acess social networking" websites.
PS Open-access means it's not facebook.

because so many teens have their whole life on the internet....making it open knowledge to anyone with availability to a internet connection....which means someone who is 16 or 67
and when a pedophile is looking for a target to prey on (ok not even a pedophile a 40 year old man who thinks he can "bag" a 17 year old without getting caught because the internet is invisible).it allows a whole buffet of friendly open young women.
....also please note from a parent perspective you can get every single friend you have over the house within 2 minutes of me leaving my driveway!!!)

Kids are dumb, but they're kids. What excuse does a 34 year old man have? Parents can only do so much. You sound kind of ignorant. What type of kid did your parents raise?
