34 weeks really is too early. 35 is even kind of shaky. For the most part, 36 week babies do okay. But keep in mind, full term babies sometimes have to go to the nicu.

If it's a boy, 34 is definetly too early. Boys do not mature as quickly as girls. Just like at puberty, girls mature faster.

In my career, i've had only one 34 week delivery that did not wind up going to nicu, and that baby wound up with an IV and under bilirubin lights for horrible jaundice.

Keep that baby in there as long as you can.

My first child was born around 34-36 weeks and the only problem he had was his breathing was at 95% instead of 100%, he was kept at the hospital I delivered him in and if he would start breathing hard they would take him to be monitored but other than that, he was fine I was able to have him in my room the whole time like I said other than when he started to breath hard! Now he is a driving almost 2 year old. Feb. 26th he will be 2!!

I had my son at 34 1/2 weeks. He was a scheduled C-Section. He was perfect. We both were in the hospital for 4 days and he did go home with me.

I always had my babies early 2 @ 38weeks and 1 @37 weeks. I know that a fetuses lungs are not developed fully until about 37 weeks. They can do an amniocentesis to find out if the babies lungs are mature. Sorry I couldn't help more. Good luck!!!
