The real answer is that there should be 6
1. North America
2. South America
3. Africa
4. Australia
5. Antarctica
6. Eurasia
Europe and Asia are essentially the same landmass, with only the Ural mountains separating the East from the West.
If we were to apply that same logic used to differentiate the two to other parts of the world, North America would be split into different continents along the Rocky Mountains, Europe would be split based on the Alps, Asia would be split based on the Himalayas.

A continent is one of several large areas of land on Earth, which are identified by convention rather than any strict criteria.
The specific areas of land vary, but seven areas are commonly reckoned as continents - they are, in order of size:
1. Asia,
2. Africa,
3. North America,
4. South America,
5. Antarctica,
6. Europe,
7. Australia.

Seven - as you've listed.
But we in New Zealand don't like being missed off the map (look at the spinning globes on TV news programmes, there's nothing east of the country Australia!), so prefer "Australasia" for one of them - and Europe and Asia are often grouped as "Eurasia".
India is referred to as a 'sub-continent', although some do call it -inaccurately - a continent in it's own right.
There is some argument over Greenland - but it is accepted generally as being the largest island, not a sub-continent.

Some would consider Europe and Asia to be one continent and some would consider Australia to be an island, not a continent. But the normal classification involves seven continents.

Some people call 2 of them Eurasia.
Of course, the spirit of the thing is the mountains that divide them make it like 2 continents for people... so, we ussually say 7.
