I really want to know what you think is a fair amount the government should take, from each of the following people in income tax the following people :

John X makes 500k a year
John Y makes 75k a year
John Z makes 15K a year

I understand there are more factors, but tell me based solely on the amount they make per year.

Personally, what I don't understand why there are different rates. In most countries the taxable income is on a flat percentage, regardless of amount of money made. I think it should be a flat rate at about 16%. FOR EVERYONE. The fact that there is differences based on income clearly illustrates how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

As a Democrat - I am very much alone in supporting a flat tax ... but I do.

I FIRMLY believe that John X should pay 75,000 a year
John Y should pay 11,250
John Z should pay 2,250

Everybody pays 15% ... no deductions, no monkey business, no loopholes ... just a tax, just like a sales tax.

X should pay 33%; Y 10%; & Z- nothing. Oh- & there's nothing "fair" about taxes. They're a hard economic fact of life.

That's easy 80,000 for first. 12,000 for the second, & 2,400 for the third. Basicly 16% with no additional write-offs, or loopholes.
