The brain sends a signal to the finger which squeezes the trigger that releases the spring that pushes the hammer onto the firing pin which impacts the cartridge shell which detonates the primer which ignites the powder which explodes, forcing the bullet out the barrel of the gun.

The "bullet" is just the tip of the loaded cartridge - the part that zooms out the barrel. The part of the firearm that hits the primer, though, is either the firing pin or the striker, depending on the type of firearm.

Nothing "strikes the bullet". The firing pin strikes the primer, located in the base of the cartridge, causing the big boom that makes the bullet go.
