It could be $200 to $300 depending on what tests are run. If they do an ultrasound add on a few hundred more. Basically all you need is a total testosterone (which will be high in range or out of range for PCOS) a progesterone (will be lw with PCOS) a fasting insulin (will be elevated with PCOS) and a fasting glucose (will be in the upper 90's to low 100's with PCOS) If you have insurance, it will usually pay for these tests. Keep in mind while a ultrasound is good to see if the cycts are present, one does not have to have the cysts to have PCOS.

It depends on the insurance you have. It could be very inexpensive or a couple hundred dollars. Also note that a major test for PCOS in addition to blood tests (there are blood tests, but they are looking for things like glucose levels and such), is an ultrasound.
A couple questions:
Are you overweight?
Are your periods sporadic?
Do you have a dark brown patch on the back of your neck?

the only way to test for pcos is to run a series of blood tests. you should call your doctor. they would be able to tell you how much their office visit costs and, if you dont have insurance, how much the bloodwork costs. insurance would cover it though.

Usually the gyno does that. Discuss it with him or her. They will know if you need to be tested and how much it is. iVillage has a great message board for those with PCOS.
