The so-called illegals are here to work. The homeless apparently are a drag on society, though some of them had a run of bad luck. A lot of homeless people are mentally ill. The illegals just want to work, then go back home to Guanajuato or Jalisco or wherever.
I have heard many stories about "illegals living off the fat of the land" but I think this is all made-up nonsense to divert us from real issues. I live in the middle of the illegal-worker area of Texas and have seen none of the claimed ripping off of the American society. these guys just want jobs, crummy jobs - and, I have never met an American who lost his or her job in order for some illegal guy to get it instead.

I think that we should take care of those that are here legally and have met with misfortune first. The ones that are here illegally are the ones that should be living under the bridges and the ones that are here legally if anyone should be the ones that the government tries to help. There is enough illegal activity in the country today, why should we allow the government to support more illegal activity. I think the people of California should take a stand put there Governor in his place. I have a soft spot for illegals to---on a bus seat heading back to where ever they came from!!!!

I don't mean for my answer to sound so harsh, but I've held a job and paid taxes since I was 13. I don't see why I should be required to pay taxes to provide medical coverage for residents of another country (it is always optional if I want to donate the money).
Also, why is it that immigrants from many parts of the world are able to come to the US and make it on their own, yet others seem to expect so much.
Doesn't immigration law in Australilia and/or NZ require that the immigrant have a job lined up and bring a certain amount of money with them into the country? I think I heard that a while back.

Close to 70% of our homeless are mentally ill individuals who were released from gov. funded mental hospitals back in 1984 (due to "lack of funds"). There is no place for them to go but the streets, and our government funds are "tied up"....Our schools in California are a complete and TOTAL joke, our homeless mental patients are on thier own, and there are NO MORE BEDS for orphaned, abandoned and abused children in Californias holding facilities for our youth....call Orangewood Childrens home. They are SO overwhelmed. But the illegals? They will be just fine because we sacrifice our own for the future of illegal immigrants (most of whom work under the table and pay NO taxes). Shouldnt the word "ILLEGAL" sum the whole thing up??? Sick...just pathetic. Arnold isnt helping....I love the way he ACTED like a republican to get into office. He should get an oscar for his performance, no doubt, but in the meantime, rest assured, the immigrants are being lovingly and generously taken care of. Lucky them.

i was homeless for a while but I chose to live out in the Country then closer to nature where I could just go into the bush and live off wild plants. I only ate what I saw rabbits eat! It was just spring summer and fall!
