Pitcher- Must have good control, mechanics, speed, and a decent 2nd pitch

Catcher- ability to catch, block or scoop anything thrown your way, also the leader of the infield. relays signs from coach to pitcher

1st Base- ability to catch, block and scoop balls thrown to you, as well as field ground balls. Usually left handed.

2nd Base- Right handed, usually quick, ability to turn 2 and field.

3rd Base- right handed, strong arm, good reflexes and ability to field

Shortstop- quick, good arm, good glove and ability to turn 2

Left Field- good arm, decent speed and ability to catch fly balls an d grounders.

Center Field- good arm, Great speed and reflexes, and ability to catch fly balls.

Right Field- Great arm, good speed and ability to catch fly balls and grounders

You don't say how old you are and that makes a huge difference.

If you are a high school player then your position will probably be determined by your coach.

If you are in little league then you really do not have to choose just one position. Play the position you enjoy the most and practice hard at the skills it requires and you will do well.

I was always taught, do what you love and the skills will follow because you will be more willing to practice.

Any of the outfield positions require a strong arm as does the left side of the infield(SS and 3b).

If you are not afraid of getting in front of a hard batted ball then SS can be a very fun position to play and a good fielder at that position is critical to your teams success.

Right and center field are positions that requires a player to have a good arm. Center requires a good deal of speed. (And not the kind Barry Bonds was caught using)

Catcher is the quarterback on the diamond. He controls the game. If you have a good arm then you can keep others from stealing and the position doesn't usually require the best hitting skills. Defense is much more important.

The big question is still, what do YOU like playing?

Your position will most likely depnd on your age group and who else is on your team with talent. As you are in lower leagues, infield is supposed to be more important and outfield is neglected But if you are in upper leagues, you should most likely play right field or center field. In right field, you are still inclined to catch the ball often and a sttrong arm is necessary. You must often be able to throw from right all the way home or just to third base on a tag up. If you play center, you must be fast so you can cover plenty of range in the outfield and also have range.

Depends on the make up of the team and where you fit in line-up with respect to your teammates. If your lefty thrower 1st ,P, OF and some cases C are your only options. The best fielder is generally the SS, followed by 2nd the SS having a better arm. The strongest arm excluding pitchers are RF or 3rd. The CF is usually the fastest or most athletic and weakness arm in LF. C has to be fairly smart, tough and focused with a good arm. My advice take lots of ground balls, hit the batting cages and talk to your coach about where he thinks you should play.

Players with really god arm and good catching skills would usually play right field. but if u question your abliilty to get the ball to the plate with the game on the line and the game winning run coming home, i woould not try it. you need an accuarite arm. you would also need to question ur glove. Fly ball coming and the bases are loaded wiith 2 ots in the championship game, you need to move to the right with the sun in your eye will u catch it? the eaiserst poston iff u dont have this qualities would be to play first base, u would have to foucuse on grounder and catching throws.

If you are good at fielding ground balls i would play shortstop. And if you are fast and a decent hitter you will be able to hit in the 2 hole in the batting order.

The hot corner, 3rd base!

Sounds like you got the arm, you don't need great range at 3rd, just be able to field the ball.

And it's a close walk to the dugout........I played 3rd just because I was too lazy to walk to center.

Good luck!

well, based on your description...

I would suggest either C, 3B, or OF. These positions seriously require great arms and gloves.

Outfield...you'll be able to gun down those guys who always tag-up on you! I used to be an outfielder, and I had the same qualities.
