how do I replace a vacuum cleaner cord?

I have a vibe dirt devil vacuum and my dog chew thru the cord, can the cord be replaced? and How would u replace it?

Make sure it's unplugged from power source. You can either splice the cord. That means getting a new cord from the hardware store (or salvaging a good cord from a spent machine; try the Salvation Army). Splicing means removing the outside rubber-plastic coating from all wires for about four to six inches. Take one of the vacuum wires and twist it like a snake around the new cord's wire. Do the same with the other one. Use electrical tape to cover the wires -- separately, now. You want the wires to always remain separate.

Conversely, you can open up the vacuum and fuse the wires in the same manner they are to be found inside the vacuum. That would be a little trickier. See my sources. REPLACE A DAMAGED POWER TOOL CORD
