shaving cream. It forms a protective layer against the knife of the shaving blade. Like a sort of cloud cushion that prevents the skin from being scrapped by the blade, when the knife comes into contact with your skin, your hair gets cut off by the pressure the blade exerted on the hair (not the sharpness of the blade, though). Soap, although it works up a lather, but it does not form enough barrier as shaving cream does. Plus, you lose more than just hair when you shave, your skin cell gets shaved off too--the upper epidermal layer. If you shave without shaving cream it's very dangerous, I did it at age 14 and........later needed to use five bandages on my right leg and it did not stop the bleeding for quite a while. > <

I've had best luck with a shaving GEL, and hot water, allowed about a minute to soften the hair before shaving. To reduce razor burn, shave only in the direction of hair growth, rinse the blade off more frequently, change your blade more often, and dry the blade after use.

I have used both soap and shaving creme. If I don't have any shaving creme then I have to use soap. I would much rather use shaving creme.

I use soap, works fine for me. Maybe I should use shaving creme because I do get razor bumps sometimes.

Shaving creme because when using soap it is easier to get cuts, although I don't have to use either. My sister use to use soap and she always said she got cut and the last couple of years she switched to saving creme and she hasn't.

It is better to use shaving cream because it is ment for shaving if you use soap it won't really work as well but the thing is shaving cream making your legs kind of silky smooth and soap dosn't so it depens what you like.

Shaving cream. It's especially designed for shaving, so it will protect you against nicks, cuts, and razor burn.

It's best to use shaving cream. Not only is it supposed to be used for shaving, but it often is scented and moisturised. So, it makes your skin smell good, soft and hairless:)
