There is a good chance your screen resolution got messed up. Right click on your Desktop, then Properties. then Settings. Click on the line below the words "Screen resolution", then click on Apply. Try different resolutions to see if you can get back to where you were. It could also be the horizontal size on the monitor itself but I can't tell you how to work with that - I have no clue what monitor you have. Good luck.

What most likely happened is that your monitor settings have become messed up. Your problem sounds like an issue with the monitor itself, and not with the os.

I'd suggest looking for a menu on the monitor on a desktop. Press that button. There should be an option labeled something along the lines of 'width' 'stretch' or 'horizontal'. It varies with monitors. Mess around with these settings until it looks right for you. Every monitor is different, so this advice is quite generalized

You did not mention if this is a laptop or not, so this is only an assumption.

I'm guessing you have a LCD Monitor, if so it has failed.

CRT (television) type monitors do not fail in this way. With this type of monitor it may have lost it's horizontal <- -> adjustment but this is unlikely unless someone has been playing with it.

Connect a friends monitor to your computer. If it works OK your Monitor has died. If it has the same problem the issue is with your PC.

If it's a warranty issue contact the service agent. If not purchase another.

Monitors are rarely economic to repair.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
