It's a reaction to the vilification of the word 'conservative'. In conservative thought, institutions and procedures that grew slowly over many years shouldn't be thrown aside overnight on the basis of an emotional argument. This was oversimplified by those making the emotional arguments as 'stuck in a rut', which isn't true. Those making arguments based on nothing more than emotion without considering what else it could affect are called liberals. Considering how many people want to make arguments for change based on nothing but emotion, it's hard to believe the word could be overused.

Ask Jane Fonda, John Kerry, Cindy Sheehan and Rosy O'Donnell why the term 'Liberal' took on such an ugly connotation.
They made it ugly.

Because it's easier to slap a simplistic label on someone than to actually attempt to understand their point of view, or debate them intelligently.

when I use the word liberal, I certainly don't mean the definition of 10-20 years ago.

It is my way of calling someone a spinless, lying, socialist loving, hater of America.

So if I overuse it, i'm sorry, but i guess that means there are too many of them here.
