She unplugged it while putting songs on her Ipod. The screen stopped midway between a song and the list of songs. Pressing the buttons doesn't do anything. It's a month old 4GB nano. Please help!

I hope whatever's wrong with it is minor, because since it's not responding, you could always press the Menu and Center buttons at the same time for about 6 seconds (or sometimes a few seconds longer, depending on how fast you count) until the Apple logo appears.

Before doing that however, the iPod manual also says to set the Hold switch to Hold and then turn it off again. But I find that weird.

Try this process (the first paragraph, I mean) a few times, since it took me a few tries in order for it to work ('cuz I guess I wasn't holding it down correctly or long enough), but afterwards, if it seems that that just won't work, you should call Apple or go to your nearest Apple store, or some other place that specializes in repairing iPods/mp3 players.

Good luck! =)

The most probable thing that happened is that your ipod froze. To resolve this problem all you have to do is press the center button on your click wheel for at least 6 secs. then an apple will appear meaning that you have reset it. When you reset it you wont lose any songs.

I agree with richard. I did this with my ipod once, and accidentally unplugged it and it froze. You just have to let the battery go flat, and you will know this when the screen goes blank, like black. Then, reacharge it, and it should come back to life. If not, well then just write to apple or take it back to where you got it from and explain what happened. Im sure theyd be glad to help =)

The older sister would desire to purchase the extra youthful sister a clean iPod. or in keeping with possibility a used one from eBay or someplace. Do you recommend will Apple grant you with a replace iPod simply by fact your previous one broke? Nope. - Stuart

You shouldn't just unplug it when songs and info are being update on the iPod. You should first hit the eject symbol that is shapped like an up pointing arrow that is beside the iPod Tab in iTunes. Disconnect it and reconnect it.

I'm not SUPER good with iPods, but I doubt its broken just because it got unplugged. Maybe try letting the batteries die and recharging? I'm guessing it just froze and won't automatically unfreeze. I'm not sure if you can take the battery out of the iPod. If you can, try that.

unless your a technician your not going to be able to fix it but you could try to send it back to apple to see what they can do.
