3x² + 21x + 5x + 35
3x² + 26x + 35
(2x + 6) (3x - 4)
6x² - 8x + 18x - 24
6x² + 10x - 24

(3x + 5)(x + 7)
Use the FOIL method (First, Outer, Inner, Last):
(3x)(x) + (3x)(7) + (5)(x) + (5)(7)
3x^2 + 21x + 5x + 35
Combine like terms:
3x^2 + 26x + 35
(2x + 6)(3x - 4)
Use the FOIL method:
(2x)(3x) + (2x)(-4) + (6)(3x) + (6)(-4)
6x^2 + (-8x) + 18x + (-24)
6x^2 - 8x + 18x - 24
Combine like terms:
6x^2 + 10x - 24

e.g. (1+2)(3+4)
= (1 x 3) + {(2x3) + (4x1)} + (2x4)
therefore (3x times x) + {(5 times x)+(7 times 3x)} + (5 x 7)
