I'm thinking about smoking, but a couple questions. My parents are against that, so if I just have like a cigarette a day will my clothes smell and they will notice? I'm not to worried about breath, cause that is easily fixable.

Also, is it really as relaxing as people claim? Cause if it isn't I don't care to start.

If I tell you it isn't will you not start? Probably not.

Even one cigarette a day can make your hands and clothing smell, and in all likely-hood once you start the cravings will kick in and you'll find yourself smoking more than that. It'll start of slow, and then you'll be amazed of the months how you start to depend on something so darn stupid.

It's amazing the amount the craving to smoke can really effect you, personally I'd never viewed myself as somebody with a particularly addictive personality - always thought I'd find it easy to give up things. But smoking really is a *****, you find yourself wanting cigs during the day quite often; the nicotine forms a pychological need for more nicotine. It's a downwards spiral.

It's anything but relaxing, as the feeling itself is quite nice, but the cravings are horrible.

As for losing weight and all of that crap, you may well lose some weight... But you'll become breathless easier, and will find vigerous things will wear you out quicker than they used to.

Basically, it's a pretty awful habbit. And we havn't even gone into the damage it does to your lungs, and the amount the 5,000 chemicals (include crap loads of poisons like carbon monoxide) does to your body. The increase in risk of cancer is astounding.

My girlfriend, and all my best mates all smoke -- and it is quite a social thing. I don't see myself giving up, and honestly I find it quite disgusting. You ever kissed somebody just after they've been smoking? It's like kissing a gutter.

Basically, from my experience, if you can avoid it. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE! Don't start.

Regards, KDL.

Although it is infinitely more relaxing that anyone can explain, don't start because it is a pet project and they are going to make it out to be bad until they get the price they want for a pack of cigarettes. By claiming it is bad and bilking you for money, they have the same number of smokers today and 200 times the profit. Smart Huh. And take a look at the statistics and studies used to make it the "evil of humanity" and you can easily see their figures do not add up. Old people die anyway and if they had fun smoking so what. Take their numbers out and smoking is safer than burning wood or coal or even driving a car. They are scamming us. But - you will get hooked and a high $$$ cost will hold you back for life.

Relaxing ??
Who says it is relaxing? Every cigarrette will cramp your blood vessels -and give a little poison to your lungsand body in addition. Increasing the risk of early stroke and causing cancer and lung diseases. What this does to your skin in longer run = wrinkles, to you potence= impotence.
If you don't want to think about your own health or the health of people around you -by smoking you increase the risk for cancer for those around you, too and cause the asthmatics to wheeze.

You could also think of the environment with the amount of energy goes into drying the tobacco leaves, water to the tobacco fields.

Any habit involving use of hands and mouth can FEEL relaxing. Chewing bubble gum or drinking water is equally relaxing -and not toxic.
Tobacco is addictive. Tobacco is not dangerous in the long run and expensive in the short run because your parents are against it. They are against it because it is all the above.
Half of smokers die of tobacco related diseases - and you don't have to desperately try to quit smoking , like about half of smokers do, if you never started.
Don't believe the lies around you -trust your parents. It is not courageous to start smoking, it is stupid, unwise, expensive on Many levels, unhealthy, dangerous and not cool -who wants to be kissed by a tobacco smelling dude!
Suggests

mary a
having seen too many people who dearly wished they would have never started smoking!

Methinks that you should know once you start it's a habit that is harder to quit. First, you smoke a pack for two weeks, then half a pack in a week, then as it goes on the dreaded pack a day. This continues over a period of YEARS. Now consider the amount of money your saving now. Once you smoke, that is nearly cut in half. Trust me, if you don't smoke, don't start. Want a cooler way dude? Take a cigar, cut it in half, and just stick it in yer mouth. (It was a fad in War movies.)

It's very addictive. So , do not start. Right now you only plan on having one a day. That will soon turn into 2. Then 3, til you are up to half a pack. You will not be able to control how much you smoke. You will want one anytime you are stressed. Any time you are happy. You will just always want one. Trust me. It is very hard to quit and very detrimental to your health. If you have not started consider yourself very lucky and stay that way!

I smoked for over half my life, and my lung feels great.

Sure you will smell like death itself, and will be hopelessly addicted. the point is you will look COOL. and looking COOL is the most important thing right?

And the ladies LOVE the stench of cigarettes. Because THEY know your COOL. yes, smoke now, and you wont have to worry about being old and grey, you will die much sooner than that.

And hey, its not like its a phallic symbol or anything. Advertise your manliness, and suck a butt instead of a c*ck.

get the message kid? Now get to the internet and beat off like a normal kid would.

It will cost you a girl friend easily. Its not cool anymore.

It will smell and you wont know. People do notice.

Relaxing? Yes it is but the lack of nicotine stresses you up when you dont smoke.

Why would you want to put something in your mouth and set fire to it?

Plase, DO NOT START. You will regret it someday.

Yes, your clothes and hair will smell. No, it's not really that relaxing - especially because it quickly becoes an addiction and there is nothing relaxing about being addicted to anything.

I smoked for 12 years and just recently quit in Nov. My grandparent on my fathers side both died from it. My grandmother had emphysema my grandfather had a quarter of a lung when he died he lost the rest of it due to cancer. He died by choking on his own blood. My grandfather on my mothers side just beat his lung cancer. My mother and father were just diagnosed with emphysema. If this is what you want your future to be then I suggest smoking. It does smell really bad. I realized it since i quit. Someone who smokes will walk by me and I will think to myself gosh did I smell like that.
