would " video in" on a graphics card be 3 phono sockets?

as i want to connect a analouge video to my pc with the correct software to covert it to digital format

The 3 phono sockets to which you refer would be two audio sockets and one video socket. (On my card, they're coloured grey, black and blue ... the black one being the video socket.)
