These processes are two sides of the same coin.

Environmentally speaking:

-- photosynthesis takes carbon dioxide from the air and puts oxygen into the air. Cellular respiration does just the opposite.

-- photosynthesis breaks water apart and respiration builds water molecules

-- photosynthesis stores energy for living things by building glucose molecules, and respiration releases energy by breaking glucose molecules

In plants, photosynthesis creates glucose with sunlight from water and oxygen and releases carbon dioxide, and that glucose goes through cellular respiration, giving off carbon dioxide and producing energy for the plant.
