What possible benefit could there be for a first strike in North Korea? Do they have anything worth the millions(potientially) of deaths that would cause? If a carrier task force was ordered into the region it is there as a show of force meant to send a message to Kim Jong Il that the U.S. watching him. This is a deterrent to North Korea sending two million men over the DMZ. Don't forget that the NKs have a nuke now. Its probably low yield and unreliable, but it is a nuke nonetheless. Don't look for the U.S. to do anything overt in NK without a mountain of evidence that they are planning or are responsible for some aggressive act. I know what you're thinking...but Iraq is not North Korea. A troop of girl scouts with BB guns could have taken Iraq. Not so with North Korea.

There are no doubt secret plans for a possible attack against North Korea, as there are such plans for all sorts of situations. But attacking North Korea would not be a good idea.

I would hope that Bush would not think about doing this. I could not see how he would have the constitutional authority to do this unless the North Korea attacked us. There would be no support for these attacks and it would cause a massive catastrophe.

The Stennis was scheduled to deploy right now anyway. It is the routine tour. At least that's what I was told. My brother knows the CO's son. Orders could have changed within the last few days.

No.

However, let's note that we're still at war with North Korea. This is the situation that is the very model of what the Iraq situation would've looked like in 50 years if Dubya would've continued the status quo.

1) I haven't seen this. Do you have a link?
2) We always have planes in Okinawa & a carrier group in the western Pacific.

Is there any unusual deployment? If we attack N Korea, we will probably use F-117A's & B2-A's. Have they moved froward?

Without more info, it would be irresponsible to draw any conclusions.
