My brother and his wife just had a baby and I was going to wash his bottle with dish soap and they almost shot me for it. I have never heard of this. Is this something new they found out about?

I washed my baby's bottles with my normal dishwashing liquid and then sterilised them.. I haven't heard of it being harmful.. If it was so there would be some clear warning and you would read it about it everywhere. Just like they can;t stress enough on sterilising bottles before each use or boiling the water for the milk etc..

As long as you are rinsing the soap out of the bottle you have nothing to worry about! Under 3 months -- Sterilize the bottles, nipples and rings. If you trust your city water, there is no need to sterilize unless your doctor has ordered it due to your babies underdeveloped immune system.

As long as you wash them thouroughly with the soap (making sure all the old milk got washed out), and rinse thourougly, it shouldn't be a problem. I washed out my children's bottles out with dish soap (the kind with anti-bacterial) and rinsed out real well, and my children made it to 11 and 13.

They are over-reactive first time parents. I've had 7 babies and every one of their bottles has been washed in Palmolive. They all survived.

It's okay, but after that you'll have to sterilize it using a baby bottle sterilizer or just boil it in a boiling water.

Nothing wrong with it as long as you rinse well. Old docs used to tell people to sterilize them, but you still must wash first.

Alot of products like dishsoap are toxic to your baby. You and your brother might be interested in a company called Melaleuca. I am a customer because their tea tree oil in their products like the dishsoap make it non-toxic. I earn an extra income simply by refering others to be a customer as well. I hope they know not to use johnsons and johnsons baby shampoo as well. A baby or even a toddler can have severe damage to their bodies by swallowing detergents and cleaners. If your brother is this conscious about the baby, I think that is great and yall need to check out my website www.workathomeunited.com/jennifertheos and help me spread the word that everyone needs to get these toxins out of their homes!
