HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an American who lived in London for several years. Yes, David Beckham is an amazing soccer player. Still, he is a choke artist extraordinaire AND he never won the "big match", the World Cup. He is wayyyyy past his prime.

$250MM for an athelete whose best years are behind him? This is unbelievable. Someone just threw a large sack of money out the window....

Beckham will do for American soccer what Pele did for American soccer in the 80's, he ll bring in the crowds and then some of them wil stay. Problem is most Americans have never given soccer a chance, a media magnet he'll do for soccer what Tiger did for golf, and that's a good thing.

It really wouldn't matter to Americans if he were the best player ever to play the game and still in his prime, we do not care for soccer the way Europeans and S. Americans do. I doubt his addition to the Galaxy team will change that.

Here in Columbus they built the country's first (if not only) soccer-specific stadium several years ago and interest in the sport is still weak. Millions of children who currently enjoy the sport may pique the interest sometime in the future but between football (american), baseball, basketball, and auto racing, there currently aren't enough fans to go around.

Well you are right. Beck is a choke and I wouldn't say he is way past his prime but yes not at it. The reason he cam to the US (according to him) was to get more interest in soccer. I believe he did it for the money, but that's just me. I hope he does get more interest in soccer here in America. I love the sport and hope he helps its popularity, but i doubt that will happen.

That is too much money for any player. But he's not past his time yet, I think he's 34, but then again Preki played in Kansas City until he was 42.

Yes, it's a lot of money, but ya know, I really don't care. I'm just excited to see him over here helping a young soccer nation grow.
