Ok So if the sentence was "Beverly and (me/I) went to the movies yesterday."

if you remove the other person from the sentence how would you say it?

You would say "I went to the movies yesterday." so in that case you would use "I"

The tip is if in the sentence you were the only person, you would use "I" to refer to yourself you use I if you would use "me" to refer to yourself you would use me.

I hope that makes sense.

I is always used in the subject position in the sentence.
Bev and I will go to the movies. You could take the words (Bev and) out and still have a complete sentence- I will go to the movies. The subject does the action mentioned in the sentence. Me is used as a direct or indirect object of the sentence.
Throw the ball to me. Me is receiving the action in that sentence.
I can be used at the end of a sentence as well-as in "He can jump higher than I can." Again- I can- is a complete, though very simple sentence. In short, I + a verb = a complete sentence. Me can not make a sentence because it is not a subject, me can only be used to extend an existing sentence. (Throw the ball. Throw the ball to me.)

Use 'me' if it is the object of a sentence (It was me.) Use 'I' if it is the subject of a sentence (I did it.) Same for compounds. (Bev and I were together shopping. Someone said HI to Bev and me.)
Hope this helps you out.

"Bev and I" are used as subjects or predicate nominatives only.

eg, Bev and I went skiing today (subject). the winners of the lucky draw were Bev and I (predicate nominative).

"Bev and me" are used for indirect objects or prepositions.

eg, mum gave Bev and me a slice of cake (indirect object). mum is going out with Bev and me (preposition).

hope it helps :)

Rearrange the sentence to see if it makes sense. If you take out the other subject and it makes sense, then you are using the proper pronoun. This is what I tell my students. For example, you don't say,"Tina and me went to the store." If you took Tina out, would you say, "Me went to the store?" No, so you use I here. It works the same with me.
