You are comfortable in one environment, and not so much in the other. You know what to expect at home, and even if you rationally know what to expect at school, there are inner voices wounding your confidence and keeping you quiet. So what do you do?

First, you need to begin to feel comfortable with yourself. The truth is, no matter who you are, there are going to be many great things about you. Sometimes we are all too aware of our own flaws, to the extent that we forget to see those things that make us cool people too! The reasons our friends like hanging out with us or also why someone of the other sex might check us out when we're looking the other way. So take a moment and think about those things!

Next, think about what the absolute worse thing that can happen in a social situation is? Honestly, in High School or that type of situation, the worst thing can actually seem pretty bad. But in the grand scale of life, you won't actually die of embarrassment... and just how embarrassing anything is will be an end result of how big you allow it to be. So if you want to speak up or talk to someone or go and do something, just go and do it. Don't give your inner voice that starts telling you all the reasons you shouldn't a chance to speak up!

It's not easy - so be reasonable. Set a goal to be more outgoing in this way once a day... and then maybe twice a day. Maybe a time or two you actually will be embarrassed... but maybe you'll even see that isn't so bad after all and you might even get to laugh at yourself a little. But most of the time, you'll find out it just goes OK! Really!

you are just nervous and shy at school,
cuz you care about other people's attentions.
caring about your self image is really important and great,
but try not to care too much about 'others'
afterall, i gained a lot of friends
when i was true to my self as i was in home.

You are a cool girl, so show it!!!

I think the right question is: "How can I accept myself?". You see the reason why you are shy is because you want people to think better of you. You don't want to be rejected so you want to become that "cool girl" so people will accept you. Just be your self. Appreciate what you are and you'll be surprise. Yuo'll not be that shy type anymore.

I grew out of my shyness. I'm still a little shy but not like what I use to be. I use to be extremely shy.

I was very shy until I started working. I deal with people all day long and you quickly learn that you don't have time to be shy, and it gets easier and easier to talk to new people without becoming embarrassed.

its easy....its who you are and nothing can beat that...your unique and one of a kind... or probably you get shy around people who usually don't hang much around with you and people who don't actually understand your personality, but don't let it get to you....be who you are from the soul and that is what makes you soooooo special.
