First of all to the Americans who are saying that these terrorists kill innocent women and children WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR OWN TROOPS ARE DOING RIGHT NOW?!?!
I'm british and white and dont agree with any of the the tactics used by the terrorists who are attacking the west, however we must realise that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter, the americans aren't world police and nothin gives them the right to invade another country and tell them how to run it (the american way) personally i think the wars going on at present are motivated by greed, please be aware that in the west the news is heavily censored and you only hear what they want you to hear, try watching the news in another country and you'll get a totally different perspective, many americans are so obsessed with how great they are they don't have the common decency to explore other cultures before declaring them backward then marching in with guns and taking over, in most cases very ineptly. Terrorism of all forms is wrong but the west do it too in the name of democracy!

i once had to write a 4000 word essay on freedom fighters and terrorists what is the difference ? It boiled down to one word perception. If you support the combatants stand against the government then they become freedom fighters if you support the government then they are terrorists. For example Mandela was a convicted terrorist in South Africa but a freedom fighter to the rest of the world

Yes, some actual freedom fighters are incorrectly labeled as terrorists. More often, however, actual terrorists are 'protected' by the misuse of the label 'freedom fighters'.
If this is the beginning of a comparison between the American Revolutionary Soldiers and al-Qaeda Terrorists... that's a losing argument right out of the gate, my friend.

No i wouldn`t have thought so
They wasn`t aware that the Freedom fighters they were supporting were terrorists (IRA)
They were funding them for years while they planted bombs and killed people in England
They even had fund raisers with the slogan "buy a bullet kill a Brit "
Americans understand Terrorist to mean someone who attacks America
And the Terrorists they support to be called Freedom fighters.

Freedom has no face. Freedom is an ideal and the words freedom and fighter do not belong together. If you carry a gun you are potentually dangerious. It is no surprise the effort to help is difficult. Out of a company very few speak the language. We are visitors to a place where you can only respond to agression and when you find out the person that is firing at you is a freeom fighter it is to late, they are dead. I sugest we tatto a mark of radical affiliation. Anything to know the enemy. Maybe learn the language and father their children. We could send our coledge age children to school there. Life could be a regular everyday garden of eden.

it all depends on who is doing the name calling as we are the targets then they will get the label of being evil terrorists, did the germans see the french resistance as freedom fighters.
when a group of fighters come up agaisnt an army far more powerful than they are they not really going to meet up on a battlefield and slug it out. no they will fight what ever way they can.
no doubt this will make me look like a traitor, but im not the way that the terrorists have picked their targets has not helped thier cause killing innocent people like that is evil. but how innocent is the american goverment, makes you think how did this all start in the first place

They bring that word terror out about every generation. To be convincing, they spend 50 years creating them. It' not a new trick. There are countries in this world that have no worries about terrorist. Why? Because they're not bothering anybody. The only reason they can continuously do is, that they keep people so dumbed down from the public schools, and from the neo Nazi media machine, that otherwise intelligent people are walking around like zombies, and no longer capable of having a thought of there own.

I think many of the people here are too young to remember the Contras in Nicaragua. This is a good example of the American media/politicians calling terrorists "freedom fighters". It was Reagan who called these terrorists "the moral equivalent of our founding fathers." The former 'enemy' (as featured on the cover of Time Magazine) Daniel Ortega, has just been elected as President in Nicaragua for the second time. How many of these Contras even entered politics? Many of them joined their Cuban "exiles" buddies in Miami, and we know what businesses they are in...

I think the difference in the terms is that terrorists have no qualms about killing innocent non-combatants, (like children) and freedom fighters are focused on obtaining freedom.
The islamic fighters you seem to refer to are not fighting for freedom- they are fighting for enforcement of a strict islamic religious legal system that subjugates women, encourages brutal punishments for crimes (including death for homosexuality), and believes in the killing of all who do not share their beliefs.
If you actually think they are "freedom fighters" you need to study their writings some. You seem to be a pretty liberal person- it is suprising that you would support this agenda that is as far extreme from modern liberal thinking as you can get.
I honestly do not understand your thinking. How dense can you be?
