This is a totally serious non-racial question. Why is it acceptable for some African Americans to call each other the “N” word as a form of a greeting and it actually sounds cool & white people don’t call each other honky in the same fashion?

Actually, they only say the "N" word with an a to people they know. They dont go around saying it to everybody. And "honky" is just wierd, instead they say "dude".

I don't know where you live , but where I live it is NOT acceptable for two African Americans to call each other the "N" word , to me and my friends using that word shows no class , low self esteem, and ignorance even more if it is said between two black men ! and the same goes for two White guys calling each other Honky it does not matter what race you are those terms are just a sign of Ignorance!

Black people find the "N" word to be painful coming from outside their race, therefore by using it themselves, it takes away the bad connotation and removes the pain from the word. White people don't find the word "Honky" to be painful, and have not felt the need to remove the connotation.
