It happened to me. We thought I was 14 weeks and when we tried to her the heartbeat and what was supposed to be 13 weeks and 14 weeks, there was nothing. It was so scary when the doctor asked if I had any spotting or cramping! I was only 12 according to the ultrasound which I was rushed in for the next day. It happens because some women ovulate later than others.Like you, I thought I was past the miscarraige stage, but seeing the baby on the ultrasound assured me enough that everything would be ok. Think positive! You will be fine if you just relax :) Best of luck

I had a similar experience with this pregnancy. At my first appointment they told me I was 9 weeks and I went back a week later for an ultrasound and they told me I was only 6 1/2 weeks. I am now 33 1/2 weeks and still fear something going wrong with this pregnancy and I am on baby number 3 and also 1 miscarriage. Those fears are normal for pregnant women at any stage in pregnancy and especially in the first trimester.

Yeah i have experienced these feelings. The docs use ultrasounds and blood tests as the best judges of the age of the fetus. When i was pregnant my doctor mixed up my blood test with another persons and called me to say that i will definitely miscarry if i have not already(in the mean time i was buying cocoa butter, began to cry, and walked out of the store). then two days later, after many tears and sadness, my doctor called again to tell me that she read the wrong results and i was just fine.
Your anxieties are perfectly normal, it might be hormones that make you worry.
As well every fetus develops slightly different, so the ultrasound is just a way of guessing the development and it is not definite.

Obgyn's can be off about 2 weeks either way in setting a due date. Since you had an ultrasound, I would go by that. You should be fine. Not to freak you out or anything, but ther is not set date as to when you are past the risk of miscarriage. Just take care of yourself and you and the baby should be fine. Women have gone through a lot of trauma before and still delivered healthy little bundles. Good luck!

Lol girl i went to the hospital idk how many times my first pregnancy cuz i was so worried about a misscarriage. But dont stress it. The way people figure out a due date and find out how far along u are is add 7 days to the first day of your last period then go back 3 months. thats probably how they got u were at 10 weeks then. But the ultrasound is more accurate thats why u get one done when u r first pregnant. So they know for sure how far you are. But dont worry about misscarriage unless u have SEVERE cramping AND blood. other than that you should be fine!

a think anyone can think it like that all the way until the deliever there baby and know its there in there arms because inside the womb u have no idea what could happen but when he or she is out and in ur arms u feel u can protect him/her better if u know what a mean
a feel the same way just now and am nearly 9weeks pregant
also by the weeks ur doctor may have took it from 2weeks before ur missed period(some doctors do it different ways)
but usually its taken from ur missed period and that probally what the person doing the ultrasound saw that u were only 10weeks

Well, I experienced something similar, but not exactly. When I first found out I was pregnant, my primary physician and OB/GYN both told me that I was 9 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Then, when the sonographer administered my ultrasound, she said that I was actually 8 weeks and 1 day pregnant. My doctors were going by my menstrual cycle, but since I'm very irregular, my dates were out of whack. Don't worry too much, these dates are all approximations. They're not exact. Don't worry yourself too much either.
Congratulations and good luck!

It's not unusual. It's not always easy to tell the size of the fetus and, therefore, it's age. That's how some people are told it's a girl and end up with a boy. I didn't worry about the specifically, but I worried about LOTS of things! My son's three and I'm still worrying! The farther along you are, the less chance of a miscarriage. So, if you haven't had one, chances are you won't, if that helps. Good luck!

Hi there,
it could be that you are off on your dates. Are they worried about the size of the baby? that happened to my friend and she did miscarry. The baby simply stopped growing. You cant always go by an ultrasound. I KNOW my dates, and at 37 weeks, the ultra sound says i am 39 weeks because the baby is big, however as my dr said, they can be off by 20%.

Sometimes the doctors are a little off until the sono is done, it did happen to me.
It is natural to worry about the baby and miscarriages and we are all aware that they do happen often, just breath deep and go on about your business, and try your best not to worry, your baby is going to be Ok. I wish there was more I could do to comfort you but really there is not.
