i saw my teacher did this weird thing. i'm learning Geometry right now, 10th grade.
it was some shape and then my teacher added 28+28+x+x= 116
now how in the world did he get 116 by adding that?
We're learning polygon sum conjectures,kite and trapezoid properties, exterior angles. you know just to let you know stuff like that. i must understand these things cause my average is an F in math right now, and there's a quiz tomorrow and a test next week.
thanks for your answers

ok. lets say i added 28+28+x+x
it will equal 116. now how did i get 116?
by adding 28+28=56
56+56=112, NOT 116.
does anyone know the answer?

update #1
28+28+x+x=116. 2x+56=116. 2x+56-56=116-56. 2x=60.
2x/2=60/2
x=30
It looks like these figures are the dimensions of a rectangle. 28
is the length or width of the rectangle and x is the unknown length or width of the rectangle.The perimeter of a rectangle is all of the sides added together. 116 is the perimeter. That was given as a known for this problem. You are being asked to find the dimension of the unknown side, x which turns out to be 30, and is the length.

28+28+x+x= 116
x=30 satisfies this .
So he was finding the perimeter of a rectangle with the side 28 and 30 which gives 116.

to make this simple what everyone is saying is that you can solve for x...
28+28 +x+x =116 (this equation equals to) 56+2x=116
What you want to do is end up with an equation that isolates x on one side alone.
so subtract 56 from both sides
which will leave you with the equation 2x=60
now divide both sides by 2(this will leave you with the anwser x which is 30)
therefore x has to be 30 IF the perimiter is a rectangle...

He was probably solving for x. In this case you would subtract 56 (28+28) from both sides and get 2x=60. Then all you have to do is divide 60 by 2 to find x.
This could apply to finding the measure of one side on a kite, parallelogram, rhombus, square, or rectangle.

judging from the question it is simply a matter of algebra and rearranging the equation
the equation when simplified slightly is 2(28) +2x =116
116-56 =2x
60=2x
60/2=x
x=30
from the information you have given, it seems that it is just simply rearranging the equation to solve for x. if thats not what the question was then im sorry that i couldnt help.
best of luck!

that's a trick question, sounds opt to me. Sally borrowed $50 from her and yet another $50 from her sister precise. finished of $a hundred ultimate suited? The shoes the place $ninety seven ultimate suited Sally gained 3 money in exchange returned ultimate suited? She provide her mom a $a million precise? that makes the finished $ninety 8 she then returns a $ a million to her sister which = ninety 9 then she keeps the different dollar that makes $a hundred there's no lacking dollar.

well first u have to figure out wat 28+28=and that is 58 so then u minus 166-58=and u get 58 then do 58+58= and u get 116 so all u have to do to sum it up is 28+28=58 116-58=58 58+58=166
