You just named all of the Canadian cities with an NHL team. Quebec is now a distinct society or whatever the flavour of the week is so why consider them part of Canada. Lastly the "Habnots" have been demoted to Junior B since Patrick Roy bolted. By the way will I need a passport to fly to Montreal from Toronto in 2007? Will I need to hire an interpreter since I am ignored there whenever I speak English? My answer would have to be Edmonton because even though I am a Leafs fan the ACC does not have the loudest fans because the "suits" that pay $250 a ticket and sit in the bar after intermission and discuss business ruin it for the real fans in 2 ways. They jack the price up for the rest of us and make it seem like the ACC is a boring place to watch a game because if you watch it on tv it looks like it is empty in the lower bowl but that is because they are still in the bar. A few hints to the "suits": Make your business deal over dinner before the game. Finish your beers during the intermission. Watch the game instead of yapping all around me and the others that have paid hard earned money and can only afford to go a few times a year. Cheer as loud as you can whenever a nice play is made. Lastly keep your head up if you do not follow the above hints as I may lay the shoulder into you in the hallway. I know this is not related but I was at Skydome in 1992 watching the Blue Jays when they were hot and it was full. I believe over 52,000 people. Myself and the group of people I was with were hooping it up pretty good but were told many times by the ushers we had to be quiet. Now lately when I go to the games the Jays get half that many fans and the team is trying everything they can to get us to be noisy. I just feel it is funny how things turn around.

I believe Edmonton Oilers fans beat the old record for a single game during the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2006. However, over a season the answer would probably be with Montreal (fans/building). Interesting question. Be nice to see NHL verified statistics.

Well, since the remaining Canadian NHL city is Montreal, I would go with Montreal! Just to put my defence in for the Leafs, I've been to a Leafs' playoff game before. It was the one against the Islanders (I think it was before Charles Wang went crazy) where Tucker hit Peca awkwardly and they were crying about him hurting his knee. Let me tell you: you can't hear yourself think when the Leafs or Islanders score a goal. Whether it's cheering or jeering, it's always loud at the ACC.

HSBC Arena, I was there for a regular season game last season against the Hurricanes where it felt like the place was tearing apart at the seams.

Besides, why don't you tell us the capacity of the Montreal arena? Hmmm, maybe the 2,000-4,000 more fans you can fit in there over most other arenas has something to do with it.

"Drusalan
'No modern arena will ever be as loud as the old Chicago Stadium was.'"

Have to agree with Drusalan on this. Watch old videos of the games played at the old Chicago Stadium. That place went insane everytime the team took the ice. It was intimidating for opposing teams to take the ice hearing the 'hawk chants and crowd cheering for the 'hawks and booing the opposing teams. It will be hard to top it.

Well I've only gone to one hockey game in Canada (toronto) so I can't comment about canadian arenas....but due to the small size and large crowds at the melon arena (#4 in league in crowd size), The Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh can get pretty crazy.

Edit: those of you that say Buffalo....MAYBE this year i dunno, but how was it the loudest in the past few year when no fans were there bc they weren't doing so great?!?!

Uh it is CLEARLY the fans of the Edmonton Oilers. Having first hand experience, i know this to be true - plus all the announcers have the same opinion. and if you're trying to say it's montreal, you're nuts. Oil Country -We're crazy, we're loud, and we know it. Go Oil Go!
