After using the bike and leg press (weight machine) yesterday at the gym, I noticed my right knee felt alittle sore. This morning when I woke up it was slightly swollen, had a dull ache and just feels..well..funny when I bend it or put pressure on it. Anyone have a similair experience and know what it is? Advice on how to care for it? Lastly, should I keep working out on it or take a break till it feels better? Thanks!

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. i was playing basketball in gym class, and came down on my knee wierd. When I landed it kinda popped, but I didn't feel any pain, so I kept on going. It took a little while but the pain started to come and them it had that funny feeling you described (it felt like there was a bubble under me knee that wouldn't let me bend it far). I kinda ignored it, hoping it would go away, and it didn't. Finally went to the doctor and he told me I probably had torn my meniscus (a major ligament in the knee). Luckily, when I got my MRI, it was just some twisted cartiledge and pinched nerves. So don't do too much on it, and use crutches if you can, and get to the doctor. If it is a torn meniscus, and you leave it alone too long, your knee can become inflexible. If its torn you will have to have arthroscopic surgery, one in which the remove the torn tissue (which has a 3 day recovery period but will lead to arthritis later in life) or they can repair it (which has a 6-8 week recovery period, but will be as good as new). So hope its not torn, but get in ASAP and find out whats wrong and hope it heals quick!

Back off it until it feels better.
Then go back at it, just make sure you stretch first and warm up slower. Try lower weights and more repetition. It works better for toning. But best advise...after resting it a bit talk to one of the personal trainers. I've never know a health club not to have one.

Maybe Medial ligament, just keep of it for a couple of weeks and after that dont over use it, go easy on it.
