For P.E, we have to swim as part of a requirement. If we miss a class, we get an F for the day. I can't use tampons due to medical reasons, so will i just have to fail the class?I have a guy P.E teacher he really wont care about exuses such as if you are on your period or not, all he cares is that if you don't make it you will fail. This is SOOO UNFAIR! I shouldn't be doomed to fail just because of this! Its also sexist because boys don't have to worry about it, so they have a higher chance of passing. Does anybody else have the same problem, and if so, what do i do?

you need to talk to your gym teacher
and if he objects get your parents and the principal involved
you are 100% right:
you are being set up
to fail if you don't use tampons.

If it's a medical problem, you should get a note from your doctor in order to skip class as a medical excuse. However, swimming with your period is not 100% dependant on wearing tampons. You can wear a thin pad and change right after class. It'll feel a bit weird but if it's the only way the school would let me pass the class, I'd do it.

Unless you are planning on making a career out of swimming, don't get so worked up. It's only high school. Be mature about it and tell the PE teacher. Let him know you'll have a stream of red coming out behind youself if he won't let you make it up another time.
It's totally unfair. What kind of medical problem? I'm not familiar with any medical problems not allowing you to use a tampon.
Good luck.

Tell him you can't swim because your not feeling 100% explain your on your period and don't be shy to tell him, regardless he can't fail you if you have a doctors certificate.
If he does fail you take this to the principal and he/she will deal with this highly unfair teacher.

Get a note from your doctor, explaining that you can not swim, on these days, if he still does not accept this as an excuse, have your parents report him to the princple (this would be a case of sexism)

Get a Dr.s note or have you mom explain how unsanitary it would be to make you swim with a pad or no protection since you can't use tampons

Sorry honey but that's not sexist, the women's movement has fought for years for equal rights. So equal is equal, what men have to so do women, but to your problem. I've heard that being in water completely, like in a swimming pool will stop the bleeding momentarily. I'm a guy so I'm not sure on that you might want to consult other females. So all you women out there lets help this young women out.
