Don't go to self-publishers as your first option! If you do eventually decide that this is the route for you, I would suggest http://www.lulu.com for it. Yes, it is hard to be traditionally published, but people still sell their first books! You may want to try and build publishing credentials with short stories and poetry first-- magazines can be easier than publishing houses.

Get an agent. Not only will they help your work avoid ending up in the slush pile in publishing houses, but they will negotiate your contract if an offer is ever made. It is important to keep as many of the rights to your book as possible, and unless you are a lawyer that is something I would suggest not tackling!

There are two books that I would recommend. One is "Writer's Market". The other is "The Guide to Literary Agents". They are excellent collections of placed to submit your book to.

Be persistant. Be determined. Do not be swayed by rejections. You will get rejected, as every published author has (along with every musician, actor, painter, photgrapher, etc). If you keep trying you WILL find someone who is willing to represent your book.

Oh, check out the website Preditors & Editors to help you avoid people who are trying to scam you (remember, you should be getting payed, not paying anyone!):

Good luck!!

I discovered the cause and cure for osteoarthritis and am writing a book.all you do is record the book on a disc from your computer. take it to a print shop and pay them about 3 or 4 dollars to print each book.they will print about any amount of books you wont.usually, depending on the size of the book.is how much it will cost per book. You can design it with anything you wont in it. put pictures on pages. design a front cover.get creative.then create a website and sell your book. You can do anything you wont to.the Sky's the limit. you have to dream before things become reality. It takes work but it will be worth it. good luck.

If its good invest in a website......and make it an E-book.....you wont initially make $$$$ but the notoriety (if its a good book!) will almost guarantee you status as a reputable author for further books...................think about it.......

PS ....Copyright your literature first!!!!!!!
