I lost my job on Jan. 10th, due to lack of work. What can you do financially, with the bills coming in, until a new job is found? Unemplyment won't pay much and won't start for a couple of weeks. I am older, 57, and they DO discriminate due to age. I only have a HS education and jobs are difficult to find. What can a person do but become homeless? I feel lost. Could someone give me some encouraging advise? I certainly don't need any rude, hateful remarks. I feel really bad and afraid.

Thanks for everyones words of encouragment. I applied for unemployment today and applied for three jobs at the same time. I do have some leads from former co-workers and will apply to those tomorrow. Oh, I can't give up. I have no choice but to keep trying, but it sure is discouraging out there. I have also applied with some temp agencies. Maybe something will pop up. Thx to all of you.♥

Waiting for unemployment is a big mistake. Get out and apply everywhere.Yes you will come across age discrimination but don't have that in your head when you talk to a prospective employer. Be upbeat. Make them like you even if they are half your age.Let them know you really need a job. There is still some compassion left in the world. And if they say no be nice and say I'll leave my number with you and if anything comes up or if you hear of something locally would you please pass my number on. Remember business people know business people and hr people know other hr people. If you leave an impression on them they will try. Also try a temp service in the meantime.Good luck

hello hopeful, I would say look up some temp agencies in your town most of them can offer you work right away and pay every week and call the salvation army or a place where they may be able to offer some type of assistance with your bills. Call around because there are some places that will help you pay some of your bills when you are in situations like you are in. Sorry I wasnt very thourough couldn't think of the names of the businesses but I hope i helped. Just know that this all happened for a reason and prey and believe that everything will work itself out.
