Don't give me lists of exceptions to these generalisations. American sports (which I find as dull as hell) seem to be all about statistics. How many yards has this guy run this season. How many tackles has he completed (lmao). I see your commentators ruining footy matches with nonsense about how many completed runs such and such a player has made up the left wing in the last three seasons - dross. Also, this time-out palava has got to stop. It's just soul-destroying. Oooops, someone farted - TIME OUT! Are you games high scoring because Americans have limited attention spans? Watch American Football (Rugby with shoulder pads) \ Basketball (Netball) or Baseball (Rounders)? I'd rather stick my genitals in a bee's nest.

American sports are governed by American Television. They've got the big money, so they call the shots. If they say the game should take about 3 hours, and there should be 25 timeouts, and high scoring, that's what we will get.

we pay these guys millions of dollars...we expect them to put the money that they get paid to good use by putting up high stats, which in theory make the team do better anyway

Its OK. At least when the clock say that our games are over, they're actually over.
