I lived in both places and I'll tell you from experience that although Fort Myers has beautiful beaches , the people there you have to watch for, gangster type, thugs, etc. I never did like living there. Now Tampa on the other hand, I guess there's good and bad people everywhere you go, but there did'nt seem to be that many bad people, and it does have beautiful beaches....so I guess I'd have to say you'd have a better time in Tampa. There's lot to do for 18+!

How 18+? If you mean 18-25 definitely Tampa. If you are more leaning toward the 30ish end of the 18+ Ft Myers is wonderful because of the other areas south of there.
