There's nothing wrong with it. The government should not be telling for what reasons we may have sex. And, if those opposed to prostition will note, it's not the sexual act that's illegal, it's giving or getting money for it. As long as no money changes hands, you can suck f*ck and fondle whomever (adult) you wish. Those who think it's demeaning to women - so is a career waitressing. Would you like to ban waitressing to save women from themselves and inability to properly choose a career? How paternalistic of you. For those opposed to prostitution for public health reasons, think about it. It's the fact that it's illegal that makes it such a hazard. If it were legal, it would also be regulated and licensed. Not to mention the prostitutes could unionize. That means health benefits, security guards to be sure the customers behave themselves and mandatory barrier (condom) use. They could also have a retirement plan, vacation time, and other perks. Sure beats waitressing.

The bottom line is that why you have sex is your business and if you're okay with getting paid to get laid, you should be able to make that choice.

Sex is a good way to relieve stress. Not prostitution.
The problem prostitutes have are the bosses. Thats the problem.
Generally a prostitute will give sex for money. But can suffer a lot of abuse from the customer (John), and surely the money goes to the man anyway. Quite often it could be a teen pushed into doing things for a guy., and on and on to the risk of danger and disease, and drug addiction. When a guy retains her services he may not be aware of all of the awfull things, and unwittingly contributes to her suffering, all in the name of money which leads nowhere, and to no further progress. That's one of many things wrong with prostitution., and the evils of money.

no, it isn't sexist...it's just that when people hear 'prostitution' they only think of female prostitutes, not the males.

personally i would never do it- i have too much pride, LOL- but it depends on everyone. not all people believe in the soulmate and wait-till-marriage stuff. and so what's wrong with that? it's their lifestyle and beliefs.

however, a lot of people say prostitution is wrong because it is degrading to the person being paid and spreads STDs, or that sex is something sacred.

The only thing wrong with prostitution is the way its sold. I feel it would be more lucrative for the prostitutes if Ebay or Craig’s list had an auction, prostitution auction .com. I will be lobbing for prostitution stamps. These stamps are a lot like food stamps but for really ugly people. Think of it as a sex transfer program sponsored by the tax payer.
If you interested in the program its
Sexforall.gov.com.sex.free.job.opportunity.

Yes, that's not right to have that trade.
It destroys one's emotion, moral character.
It diminishes one's hope of becoming a good father/mother in the future.

It lower our self-image.
In most counties, where prostitution is practiced- they are not doing it because they think it is right but because of their wrong choice or in some cases, they were being cheated.

Even if it [prostitution] is not wrong in the bound of one's choice, it is not right either.

Well... it spreads diseases--deadly diseases--HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis B & C, Human Papilloma Virus (which is known to cause cervical cancer in women). Syphillis (which untreated it will effect the brain and make you go crazy and eventually you will die). Not to mention other STDs like Herpes, Warts, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia--need I go on? Also some married men seek prostitutes and they bring diseases home to their wives and families--it is also cheating. Some crazy serial killers murder prostitutes. There is also the use of drugs that goes along with prostitution and drugs kill people. So in a nutshell I would say that nothing good comes from prostitution and that's why it's illegal.

See, prostitution in itself could be okay, but it's all the problems tied up in it that makes it so wrong- the girls with no self-esteem, the STD's, the creepy people addicted to pornography (it IS addictive and does ruin lives)...etc. I suppose if both parties were strong enough to have paid intercourse and come away from it with money/something good with no dukkha (buddhist term for mental dissonance) then hey- there's not too much difference in that than going to get a massage, right?

Prostitution makes people into nothing more than objects for pleasure and/or profit. It's demeaning to everyone involved in it. It's actually a form of slavery.

First...prostitution does not have to always involve a woman..
Second...Always remember why you pay a prostitute, male or female,....To make them go away after they service you.
Third...In many first world countries...
Prostitution is NOT wrong....any more than garage mechanics are wrong or hair dressers...It is licensed and taxed and controlled like most other businesses.

lol I like some of the answers. "You're selling your body"
Um we all do. Think about it.
Someone pays you to do a service, whether you're a doctor a lawyer, fireman, maid you name it.
Someone pays you for your time and BODY.
Not everyone thinks sex is dirty, most prostitute don't have a problem doing this for a living... so why should anyone care that they are doing it.
Yeah I know some do, the ones who are forced into it.
Hell I don't like what I do for a living, but not much choice at the moment.
We are all whores it's just a matter of price.
