What are her colors? Attributes? Why of the African goddesses/orishas, am I drawn to her?

Is she Yoruba or Santeria?

How about Ayo or Oshun? Anyone have details/information on them? I'm very interested in African women mysticism.

The Yoruba goddess of water is Yemayá, she controlled the sea and the river but then she gave Ochún the rivers so she could hide from Changó.

She can be saluted with:
Necklace: transparent and blue beads.
Animals: Lamb, chicken, turtle, duck, rooster, etc...
Flower: Violets

Sons and daughters (people that she protects):
Strong vigorous women, motherly and that get angry very fast. Temperamental.

Sincretización:
She is the Virgin of Regla in the Catholic Pantheon.

Now, Yoruba is the religion, Santeria is the practice of that religion.

Santero o Babalao is the Yoruba "priest".

I have a lot of information from evry saint, including, Ochun and Oyá so if you want you can e-mail me and I can send you more info.

A woman recently got a tattoo of her on her back on the TLC show Miami Ink. It was a gorgeous tattoo--it was in black and gray, though, and I don't remember the colors of the goddess. You might wanna look at the site and see if they put up a pic of the tattoo.

The woman said that the goddess was good for dealing with grief and loss--she prayed to her after somebody close to her died.

There's some overlap between Yoruba and Santeria--like, the Santos are Yoruba deities reworked as Christian saints. I mean, she might be some kind of saint or possibly a version of Mary (Mary means "ocean", like, marine.)

The pic that was the basis of the tattoo had a woman dressed in white, with stars dropping from her hands, and she was standing either in or right above the ocean (not sure.) I would assume ocean deities would be in shades of blue, maybe some white or silver for the stars. She had a star above her forehead, too, I think.

Yoruba religion is called "Ifa." Yemanja... she's in both.

I don't know anything about her, but I'm drawn to her too.
