I'm getting a message that says to insert a blank CD but it rejects it and asks for a blank CD again.

I've burned music CDs before but now it's not working.

I tried:
- Two different programs
- Two different brands of CD-R (including the one that worked last time)
- Slower burn speed (32x)

Any ideas?

Before you think about replacing the drive, try another brand of CD. If that doesn't work, try this:
Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties". From there click on the "Hardware" tab and then pick "Device Manager". From there, find your drive that's malfunctioning, and right click on it...then choose "Uninstall". Then exit, and reboot. When Windows starts up again it should see the drive as "new hardware" and reinstall the driver for it. That may fix your problem. Then try a CD again, and if it doesn't work then, chances are you'll have to replace the drive. Good luck.
