Well many hands make light work is true to an extent depending on the work at hand. If say for example your painting a room, the more people there are painting the quicker the jobs likley going to get done (as long as everyone involved cooperates). Many cooks spoil the broth on the other hand could be down to to many different people with their own tastes adding what they feel is right to the broth thus it turns out dissasterous. So it could be based off peoples cooperation in these types of situations (doesn't necessarily work in every situation though ). Hope this helps :)

The more of you doing something and pulling together the easier it is however if you are not working as a team and not listening to each other then it goes wrong.
