The test is generally given between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy. If you have had gestational diabetes before, or if your health care provider is concerned about your risk of developing gestational diabetes, the test may be performed before the 13th week of pregnancy.
The test involves quickly drinking a sweetened liquid (called Glucola), which contains 50 g of glucose. The body absorbs this glucose rapidly, causing blood glucose levels to rise within 30 to 60 minutes. A blood sample will be taken from a vein in your arm about 60 minutes after drinking the solution. The blood test measures how the glucose solution was metabolized (processed by the body).

The first answer pretty much explains everything well, but I did want to add a small bit of advice. When you go to drink the solution, drink it through a straw, so that you don't guzzle it too fast and get sick. I didn't use a straw the first time, and I was very nauseous afterward. The second time, though, I used a straw and tolerated the stuff much more easily. I hope this helps.

1 and 2 were great. You should get the test results in a few days to a week, depending on the doctors office. The test is nothing to worry about.
